The weather is forecasting snow, Mariah Carey is on full volume in the shops and mince pies have already been on the supermarket shelves for weeks, this can only mean one thing…Christmas is around the corner which means you better hop to it and get on it with the gift shopping!
This year, we’re putting products from small independent brands firmly at the top of our wish-list. We’ll be supporting brands who like us, celebrate every order that comes through the tills! We’re sharing some of our favourites below who create with care and are sure to be received with delight, even by those who are the hardest to buy for.
MOTLEY x ZAK SHEINMAN
Gold Pop Bead Necklace
Motley is a bold jewellery brand that works with the world’s best designers to create exclusive original collections. Motley manage all production of the pieces, removing the up-front costs independent designers face alone, leaving them to do what they’re most passionate about, designing jewellery. Like FUND, Motley celebrates unique design as a form of self-expression. The brand currently has a pop-up just off London’s Carnaby street where the team are proudly sporting our jumpers as their ‘uniform’ – pop in to check out their designs (and see them in our jumpers) in person.
Half Moon Sunglasses
Wires, founded by British model and eco-activist Lily Cole, make genderless sunglasses from castor beans and a single wire. Using a single piece of stainless steel wire and 3D printing for the lens rims means the brand produces a minuscule amount of waste in comparison to traditional eyewear manufacturing.
BEEN LONDON x CANDICE BRATHWAITE
Sustainable handbag brand Been London has teamed up with style-icon Candice Brathwaite to release a small collection of covetable accessories. The Esmé bag (available in Black Onyx but we’re in love with Candice’s signature ‘Get Money Green’) features a comfortable crossbody adjustable strap decorated with ornate gold hardware. Like the rest of Been London’s collection it’s made entirely from premium certified recycled materials and handcrafted in London.
Toolally is synonymous with statement, sculptural, lightweight earrings. The brand makes all its earrings at its dedicated studio on the Yorkshire, Lancashire border where a talented team of makers handcraft each piece. Offcuts are pressed into new sheets to be used again. We’ve got the night sky inspired Constellation earrings top of our list.
De Mamiel meticulously formulate and hand-blend its formulas to ensure absolute purity and the best experience possible. Soothe is an essential oil blend that provides a welcome balance to help promote abundant good quality sleep. It has been blended to ease anxiety and clear your mind to allow for a deep and peaceful slumber.
Mary started her eponymous brand as an expression of her passion for sustainability and creativity. Taking a slow approach the brand uses earth-friendly fabrics, creating responsibly, and offering handmade to order wherever possible. This Asteria Cushion is made from locally sourced velvet and is limited edition so hurry up whilst it’s still available!
And not forgetting us! This year, for the first-time ever, we’ve launched a gift voucher – it’s priced at £165 and redeemable against any jumper on the website. It makes the ideal gift for knitwear lovers, those that already seem to have everything and those trying to support sustainable shopping.
