The courageous and fearless suffragette who lead the way for contemporary Feminism as we know it.
Emmeline was a leading British women’s rights activist during the early 20th century. Along with many other brave women she helped galvanised the movements principles even when threatened with imprisonment. Eventually after 40 years of militant campaigning she achieved success in 1928 when the representative of the peoples act was passed and British women were, for the first time granted complete equality to vote.
She died in June the same year only months before the act was passed.
