The reigning monarch of the United Kingdom, our diligent and dutiful Queen since 1952. She was never expecting to be Queen. However on the abdication of her uncle, her father became King George IV and she, Elizabeth, in turn became next in-line to the throne.
It is easy to forget but she is a working mother, with four children. She is the longest reigning British monarch as well as the longest serving female head of state. At 96 she still completes many royal duties. Her endearing dedication to service is inspirational. A very modern monarch determined to strive for a better future and to do it all with a smile.
